Join us for an exciting evening of belly dance with Luna of Cairo, the Saltanah Dancers, and special guests. Show to be held at Teatro Paraguas, an intimate studio theater just one street over from DanceSpace Santa Fe at 3205 Calle Marie. The formal show will be held from 7:30-9:00 pm and will be followed by a 15-minute, live drum finale for all participants and audience members to enjoy!

Luna of Cairo Workshop Weekend
Luna will be teaching three workshops in conjunction with the Kisses from Cairo Oriental Showcase: Egyptian vs. "American" Style Technique, Baladi Progression, and Egyptian Shaabi Styling & Choreography. Luna’s Bio:
Luna is an American belly dancer living and working in Cairo. She is the latest addition to the Cairo dance scene, and performs daily on the Nile Memphis. Luna also makes regular appearances as well as at weddings and corporate events.

In 2008, Luna left New York City on a Fulbright scholarship to write a book about dance in Egypt. While she was conducting research, she begagn dancing at 5-star resorts across the country. She has since become one of the most sought-after dancers in Cairo. Due to her authentic Egyptian style, technical precision and stage presence, Luna was contracted at the Semiramis Hotel in 2010. She is currently contracted at the Nile Memphis. Luna also makes regular appearances at other 5-star venues, and has been featured on Egypt's 24/7 belly dance TV channel "El-Tet." Most recently, Luna has appeared in the music videos of some of Egypt's most popular singers, including Higazi Mitqal, Ragab El-Prince, and Ahmed Salah, and was a has also been featured in the movie "Mamaleek."

In addition to her dancing, Luna holds a Masters degree in Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard University, where she studied radical Islamist movements in the Arab world. She is fluent in Egyptian Arabic, Spanish, and English, and holds a B.A. in journalism and political science.
