George Wallace is writer in residence at the Walt Whitman Birthplace in New York, writing professor at Pace University in Manhattan, and winner of the Orpheus Prize (BG), Naim Frasheri Prize (MK), CSAO Award (IT), and Alexander Gold Medal in Greece. Suffolk County Long Island’s first poet laureate, he is editor of Poetrybay, co-editor of Great Weather for Media in New York City, and author of 33 chapbooks of poetry, including A SIMPLE BLUES WITH A FEW INTANGIBLES, chosen as a Top Ten summer poetry reading choice by the Huffington Post in 2017. ![]() This is George's second visit to the northern New Mexico poetry community, having read at Church of Beethoven (Albuquerque) and the Mabel Dodge Luhan House (Taos) in 2011.
